Hello all.
Hope you are all well.
This week, I would like to introduce you to Button and Squirt and their AMAZING educational, fun and colourful products for kids. The digital illustrations are fabulous and all done by Ria herself.
Nature has proven to be very beneficial (something I think we have all learnt throughout lockdown), including for children. The Wildlife Trusts commissioned a report for Institute of Education at UCL, to see how Wildlife Trust led activities impacted 450 primary school children. Needless to say the results were compelling.
From this study, it was found that of the school children, 79% reported that they feel more confident in themselves.
‘Contact with the wild improves children’s wellbeing, motivation and confidence.’

Button and Squirt’s mantra is ‘Learn, Love, Protect’ – how fabulous is that?
Ria, the founder of Button and Squirt, has been a lover of nature since she was a child. And this interest was rekindled with the arrival of her first child.
She has since created a plethora of fabulous educational resources for kids (and adults) detailing the amazing animals that we share our home with.
I ordered the brand new ‘Amazing British Bugs Fact and Activity Book’ and boy is it fabulous! Made from recycled paper and vegetable inks here in the UK, this book is bursting with colour, facts and fun activities to spark interest in young minds.

This particular book (there is also an activity book dedicated to birds) is full of various species that you can find in your local parks and gardens. Each page contains different species, from Ladybirds to Spiders, Caterpillars to Moths. Each selected insect has a fact file associated with it, all in bright colours to capture an easily distracted mind!
Towards the back of the book there are pages where you can colour in, instructions how to make a bug hotel and a makeshift moth trap. It really is a terrific resource to help educate youngsters (and even yourself) about the so called ‘creepy crawlies’ that you can find.
Not only are there activity books, but there are also playing cards, colouring books, games which are perfect for children and also stationary, homeware, t-shirts, purses and bags for the young at heart.
The activity book I bought retails for £7.00, and believe me it is worth it. It is also a good resource for home-schooling, either formally or during the holidays.
I will leave the link to Button and Squirt’s website here.
