Sustainable Swaps – Wild Deodorant.

I am aware that a lot of us are conscious of how much waste we produce, unintentionally. Many people have set up their own businesses that have grown dramatically in popularity in recent times as people want to actively make changes to their lifestyle to become more sustainable or more environmentally friendly. 

One thing that you use every morning and probably don’t give a second thought to unless you run out is your deodorant. These are either in aerosol form or plastic roll on, where every single aspect apart from the liquid is plastic. Personally I was becoming more and more aware of little things in my life were creating unnecessary waste, when there were more and more alternatives becoming available all the time.

One brand that I was seeing increasingly was Wild Deodorant. 

 

Here’s a little bit of background about Wild:

 

Wild is a sustainable brand. The cases the deodorant comes in are made from aluminium and so are completely recyclable, but not only that, the refills are completely compostable and therefore makes it the world’s first zero-plastic deodorant refill.

Plus (oh yes there’s more) for every deodorant that is bought, a percentage of the sale is donated to the climate charity ‘On a Mission‘ to help with reforestation. 

 

The deodorants are vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, dermatologically tested and free from artificial fragrance, parabens, aluminium and sulfates. Because it is so good for you, and does not contain aluminium salts (and so is NOT an antiperspirant), you may find you have to reapply your deodorant throughout the day, as your pores become unblocked of aluminium salts. According to Wild, to help speed this process along, you can apply a mud mask to your underarms which helps to draw out impurities. Keep going with it and trust the process, as it is so worthwhile. 

 

The deodorants themselves, are sort of like a balm, or moisturising butter stick consistency and so you don’t have to worry about letting it dry before you get dressed.  There are also a lovely selection of scents you can choose for refills:

You can purchase a ‘Starter Pack’ (£12) and a ‘Discovery Pack’ (£25), the starter pack includes a case and 1 refill, and the discovery pack contains 1 case and 3 refills.

Once you have used this it is £15 for 3 refills, which you can mix and match the scents so you can find your favourite! The subscription service is totally flexible; you can cancel or reschedule your delivery whenever you like by logging into your account.
