Colt and Willow; Eco-friendly Cleaning Products.

Hello there, and welcome to another post on Foxglove and Bee.

Now more than ever we are making sure our homes and places of work are thoroughly clean. But sadly, many of our modern and effective cleaning products are in plastic bottles and also contain harsh chemicals, which can be dangerous if misused. So I would like to introduce you to a squeaky clean, brand new company called Colt and Willow.

Colt and Willow Products.

Colt and Willow was  co-founded this year by Annie McWilliams, who teamed up with a small, family run business in Northamptonshire to create stylish (they really are), safe, plant-based and sustainable. After a lot of research, the team came up with Colt and Willow; a cleaning product brand that is good for the planet, good for you and not harmful to children.

That sounds perfect doesn’t it? Especially now, we all want to make sure that whatever we use to clean our homes and keep our loved ones safe, will work at killing germs and cutting through dirt to make our homes clean, comfortable and safe.

To date, Colt and Willow offer 5 products;

  • Geranium Leaf All-Purpose Cleaner
  • Rosemary Bathroom Cleaner
  • Rhubarb Washing Up Liquid
  • Wonder Scrub Cream Cleaner
  • Fig and Cassis Potty Spray

These products all come in amber glass bottles or jars which can be reused as Colt and Willow brilliantly offer refills of each product, which do come in PET plastic litre bottles. However, on their website, they state;

‘“But PET is plastic” and we hear you. After extensive research, it turns out PET is the most easily recyclable product we can currently use. While there are bio-degradable alternatives at the moment they rely on your local council having the infrastructure to ensure they are composted correctly, and unfortunately most currently don’t. We are, however, fully committed to finding a better solution than using plastic for our refills in the long run… so watch this space.’

Colt and Willow 2020

Colt and Willow are vegan and cruelty free, and none of their products contain parabens, phosphates, petrochemicals or SLSs.

And if that wasn’t enough, this exceptional brand is also a member of ‘1% For The Planet’, (an organisation where companies pledge to give 1% of their sales back to the environment) through which rainforest communities working with Cool Earth help to halt deforestation and its effect on climate change. In addition (yes there’s more!), their products are made in Britain, which means that pollution through shipping is reduced, and money is kept in the community offering local employment.

I really want to try the Rhubarb Washing up liquid, and at least without the harsh chemicals found in other household cleaning items, my hands will have a chance to recover from all of the intense hand washing throughout lockdown and into the future.

Prices start from £8.50, and products are also available to buy in packs, where you get the product and a refill, a mini selection of all products or ‘The Essentials’ package where you receive 3 full size bottles of the washing up liquid, bathroom cleaner and all purpose cleaner.

I really would recommend this new brand. At least we know that we can help keep the planet safe, whilst we keep our bricks and mortar homes safe.

Hope you like them too!
