The January Jitters.

The festive season has sadly come to an end (*cries intensely) and that lurking feeling of anxiety, guilt and sadness bubbles to the surface.

In case you haven’t already guessed, I hate this time of year. Spring seems so far away and the dark, dank days seem to be never ending. The looming threat of Omicron is also acting up in the back of my mind.

I start my new placement on Wednesday and I am so nervous. The place and the staff are lovely, but the unknown is so scary. So yes, the January jitters are more profound for me this year. I hope everything goes ok. It is scary starting something new. I thought it would get easier as I have started lots of new things, but each time is just the same – those butterflies and sleepless nights never seem to go away.

So here we go, the start of 2022, let’s give it our best shot, the unknown can be the start of something fantastic! If you are feeling the same, just remember that you can do it. Just take it one day at a time and plan little treats for yourself; pizza Fridays, a Lush bath night or a walk. Hopefully after the big push, we’ll take to the unknown like a duck to water!
